Norman Tien

As the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Hong Kong, Norman Tien is focused on establishing a high-end robotics lab to promote the scientific research and teaching of high and new technology fields as well as the learning experience that provides international vision. The lab also facilitates the cross-disciplinary and collaborative research with influence. Before working in the University of Hong Kong, Professor Norman Tien was the dean and professor of School of Engineering of Case Western Reserve University in Ohio. He also worked in many famous universities in America including University of California Davis, University of California Berkeley and Cornell University. In addition, he was the honorary professor of Tianjin University. His research focuses on micro and nanotechnology including micro electro mechanical system and microsystem technology. Professor Norman Tien received his bachelor’s degree in the University of California Berkeley, his master’s degree in the University of Illinois and his PhD in the University of California, San Diego.
