Professor Zhang Hong received Ph.D. from Purdue University in Electrical Engineering.In 1988, he joined the University of Alberta, Canada where he is currently a Professor in theDepartment of Computing Science. Professor Zhang’s research interests include robotics,computer vision, and image processing. He has published over 200 papers in these areas. Heheld an NSERC Industrial Research Chair 2003-2017. He is a Fellow of the IEEE, and a Fellowof the Canadian Academy of Engineering. He is serving as the General Chair of 2017 IEEE/RSJInternational Conference on Intelligent Robots and Systems (IROS), in Vancouver, Canada, inSeptember.
