Professor Chen I-Ming received the B. S. degree from National Taiwan University in 1986,and M. S. and Ph. D. degrees from California Institute of Technology, Pasadena, CA in 1989 and1994 respectively. He has been with School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering of NanyangTechnological University (NTU) in Singapore since 1995. He was Director of Robotics ResearchCentre in NTU from 2013 to 2017. Professor Chen also acts as Deputy Program Manager of A*STARSERC Industrial Robotics Program to coordinate project and activities under this multi-institutionalprogram involving NTU, NUS, SIMTech, A*STAR I2R and SUTD from 2013 to 2017. He is a memberof the Robotics Task Force in 2014 under National Research Foundation which is responsible forSingapore's strategic R&D plan in future robotics. His research interests are in construction robotics,logistics robotics, human-robot interaction and industrial automation. Professor Chen is Fellow ofIEEE and Fellow of ASME, General Chairman of 2017 IEEE International Conference on Robotics andAutomation (ICRA 2017) in Singapore. He is also founder of Transforma Robotics Pte Ltd (Singapore)for construction robot and automation.
