CONTEST

Introduction

Brain-computer Interface (BCI) refers to a technique that enables electrical activities and feature signals within the nervous system to be collected, identified and transformed, so that the instructions of human brain can be transmitted to the designated machine terminals directly. Thereby, this makes it more efficient and convenient for people to control and operate robots. With its great innovation significance and application value in human-machine communication, BCI technology has been widely used in medical rehabilitation, disaster rescue, entertainment experience, etc. and has made great contribution to improving the well-being of people with disabilities.

BCI Controlled Robot Contest is organized by Chinese Institute of Electronics jointly with Tsinghua University and several relevant organizations. The aim of this contest is to accelerate innovation and breakthroughs in BCI technology and to promote the application of BCI technology in various fields, while trying to meet diversified people's livelihood needs in medical treatment, pension and rehabilitation and realizing integrated development of BCI application industry and other industries. We try to build a world-class BCI contest brand that is technological, innovative and practical, which can be helpful in improving people's well-being.

Two aspects will be mainly examined during the contest, which are practical application and R&D of BCI technology. The practical application aspect will compete in the ability of people controlling the BCI system, in order to demonstrate and explore the possible practical application prospect of BCI technology. In terms of technical R&D, participant teams will compete in the ability of research in BCI technology and optimizing BCI algorithm.

The contest consists of four parts: BCI system control concept, algorithm concept, excellent BCI system application achievements demonstration, and excellent thesis defense. Application controlled concept and algorithm concept will be held simultaneously, and will be divided into two rounds of trials and final. The BCI data generated in the contest will be archived officially and be used as research data in the future, which can be seen as an important achievements in the field of BCI research in China.
